Identifying The Risk of Legionella

The first step towards compliance is to carry out a risk assessment of the building water services.
Our specialist water consultants carry out the risk assessment in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice.

The assessment will include:

Checks to ensure water storage tanks and heaters are clean and compliant with the water supply (water fittings) regulations 1999.

A check of the condition of the water distribution systems.

Water temperature testing to ensure temperatures are satisfactory for the control of legionella.

Digital photography of plant highlighting areas of concern

Provision of CAD schematic diagrams of the plant and distribution system.

Recommendation remedial works to be carried out to ensure compliance.

...and finally the introduction of a PPM programme (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and of a management structure programme to comply with A.C.O.P. L8.

Water Monitoring Services

Your water distribution system will benefit continual monitoring on a regular basis no matter how up-to-date. Ongoing monitoring can identify any corrosion/contaminants early, therefore lessening the frequency and/or likelihood of remedial action.

Remedial works and maintenance

We can undertake preventative measures, foreseeing potential problems before they arise, to ensure your water system is operating in the most hygienic, efficient and cost effective manner.

We can also undertake any remedial action that may be required. We will assess the severity of any problem and work out the best plan of action to rectify the problem whilst ensuring minimal disruption to your water system.

Legionella and Dental Practices.

All dental practices, both NHS and Private, must be registered with the Care Quality Commission by April 2011. Part of this includes the HTM01-05; which requires you to have a full Legionella Risk Assessment.

ACOP L8 (Approved Co The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems also deals with ‘other risk systems’). Therefore with reference to a dental practice, L8 applies not only to the usual taps, toilets etc but also to Dental Unit Water Lines (DUWL).

Following the publication of HTM 01-05 ‘Decontamination in primary care dental practices’ and HTM 04-01 – ‘The Control of Legionella, hygiene, “safe” hot water, cold water and drinking water’ all dental water systems must be surveyed.

Flood Risk Assessments
